Pop Up Mobile Film/Video Event in San Diego

Sharing mobile filmmaking in San Diego was an opportunity for local filmmakers and enthusiasts to meet mobile film by S. Botello Productions, LLC. We shared the inspiration of mobile film by presenting films shot entirely with mobile phones.

Perry Dixon, commemorative student of Mobile Film School in San Diego, presented a basic tutorial on filmmaking with an iPhone. He shared image stabilization techniques and accessories along with audio recording for mobile filmmaking and we shared some popular apps for capturing mobile video and editing.

We presented the full version of Conrad Mess’ “The Fixer” and “Vengeance.” Then we marveled everyone and truly inspired filmmakers at the event by showing Conrad Mess’ “The Other Side: VFX Breakdown.”

We also presented Dr. Max Schleser’s mobile films “E Vaine Toa”: “E Vaine Toa” was filmed and edited on location in Rarotonga during a 10 day production in November 2012. Working in collaboration with a mobile filmmaking crew from Massey University, Wellington and the Cook Islands National Council of Women. This mobile-mentary (mobile documentary) captures the voice of women in the Cook Islands and encourages their participation in governance and leadership.

We also presented “MidTown” by Max Schleser.

Then we continued to “rock the house” with some more mobile films. We were lucky to have had our commemorative student from the Mobile Film School in San Diego in person to demonstrate basic mobile filmmaking accessories, apps and procedures and hold a Q & A with our guests. Although everyone enjoyed the presentations of films and the inspiration they bring, we had a surprise in store for attendees. We offered an opportunity to produce a “Selfie-mmercial” as a contest during the event.
